The Quick Read: Starbucks Anti-Bias Training Will Feature Common

Good morning and happy Memorial Day! Here’s all the news you need to know on this holiday:

1. As employees at over 8,000 Starbucks stores watch their Anti-bias training on Tuesday, the rapper Common will feature in a series of videos throughout the training for the coffee-shop chain. Starbucks has implemented this training after two men were wrongly arrested in a Philadephia location last month. (The Wall Street Journal)

2. Kim Kardashian West came to the defense of her husband, Kanye West, on Sunday after the charity named after his late mother announced it was dropping her name. Her new thread of tweets explained why Kardashian called out rapper Rhymefest over his work with Donda’s House. “I will always ride for my man!” she tweeted. (E! News)

3. Some NFL players are considering sitting out until free-agents Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid sign with new teams. Kaepernick began kneeling during the national anthem in 2016 in order to raise awareness about police brutality. Like Kaepernick, Reid has yet to be signed by any teams. The protesting players are aiming to get 25% of the players to sit out with them. (Twitter)

4. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will spend their honeymoon at the ”Royal Retreat“ in Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, Alberta. The Canadian retreat is known to be an exclusive location that has attracted the likes of  Anthony Hopkins, John Travolta, and Bill Gates. The couple was not able to leave for their honeymoon soon after their wedding earlier this month. (TMZ)

5. Alvin Ailey dancers are protesting for better wages and benefits, alleging that they are paid up to 35 percent less than other major companies. The world-famous dance company has been negotiating a new contract since December. They have yet to reach a deal. (New York Daily News)
