Ramos reveals which Premier League boss got his vote for Manager of the Year

Sergio Ramos has been involved in a war of words with Jurgen Klopp since his clash with Mo Salah in the Champions League final.

However, it appears the Real Madrid star has a soft spot for the German manager, despite the ill feeling between the pair.

In fact, Ramos is such a big fan of Klopp’s work that he voted for the Kop chief in last season’s Manager of the Year category after his exploits on Merseyside.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday night’s UEFA Super Cup showdown against Atletico Madrid, the Bernabeu skipper revealed: "He was one of the best coaches of the season, and I voted for him. Maybe that will keep him quiet for a little bit."

Salah was forced off in the first half of Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat by the Spanish side in May.

And Klopp later branded Ramos "ruthless and brutal" and claimed his challenge on the Egyptian was more at home in the wrestling ring.

But Ramos swiped: "It’s not the first final he’s lost, [maybe] he wants to use that as an excuse for losing.

"Some of us have been operating at a very high level for many years, not sure he can say the same as coach."

New Real boss Julen Lopetegui said he expects a difficult night against their capital rivals.

"I imagine a game at the limits, in all senses, given the teams on the pitch," he said.

"We must do everything we can to compete with them – physically, tactically, mentally – in order to win the game."

Did Sergio Ramos mean to injure Mohamed Salah?
