Rebekah Vardy hires £40k World Cup jet as she racks up £140k in expenses so far

Queen of the WAGs Rebekah Vardy has forked out at least £140,000 on her no expense spared World Cup trip – so far.

The 36-year-old hired a private jet to make the 1,200 mile journey from the UK to St Petersburg to support her hubby, England striker Jamie.

The three-hour flight alone will have set her back more than £20,000 each way for a medium-sized, eight-seater aircraft.

And the former I’m a Celebrity contestant also flew to each of England’s three group games with her four children.

Her stay at a £250-a-night five-star St Petersburg hotel, and private security, added tens of thousands to the bill.

But her spending is unlikely to get Jamie a red card from his bank – he is estimated to be worth more than £9million. And he is reported to be earning £18million over the next three years with Leicester City and other deals.

His rags-to-riches tale will be portrayed in a Hollywood film and will recount how the club spent a record £1million to sign him.

Today Rebekah was back in the UK, joking on her Instagram page about Russian internet trolls who had labelled the England Wags as “Hags” because they were “so ugly”.

One fan goaded: “We should be protected from them they are so ugly.”

Another claimed: “Animal trainers are also needed, bears are walking around our streets.”

But defiant Rebekah and her fellow Wags won messages of support from the 341,000 followers on her Instagram account.

Building contractor John Simpson, 40, wrote: “The comments about them being ugly are not only rude, they’re untrue.”

Jamie, 31, took part in training in the rain today near the team base in Repino – after the temperature plummeted to 12C.

Manager Gareth Southgate was left rubbing his hands to keep warm after a spell of sweltering heat and sunshine that Russia has enjoyed for the past three weeks.

But his team was given a boost ahead of the last 16 knockout game against Colombia – with the weather forecast for Moscow taking on a distinctly British feel.

It is set to be cloudy with a strong chance of showers for the showdown on Tuesday night.

One England insider commented cheerfully: “That can only be good news for us – it doesn’t rain much in Colombia.”

The TV audience is expected to reach 25 million, with millions more pouring into bars, clubs and restaurants for the game.

Man City star Fabian Delph could be set to miss the match after flying home to be at wife Natalie’s side for the birth of their third child, due “any day”.

A source said: “Gareth understands his situation and has left it up to Fabian as to when he comes back. No pressure.”

Man Utd manager Jose Mourinho, working in Russia as a TV pundit, joked yesterday how he is taking in the sights of Moscow from the roof of his hotel – after being mobbed by fans.
