Robert Redford Says "Just Kidding " About Retiring From Acting

When Robert Redford announced his retirement from acting last month, a million nostalgia laden hearts were broken. Now the hot grandaddy of the silver screen says he wishes he had never uttered such a proclamation because it probably isn’t true. Mieka’s Sundance Ranch retirement fantasies might not be happening anytime soon, because we will probably be seeing Robert ride on the big screen again. Hell, he may just cark it on set, for all we know!

People reports thusly:

Robert Redford regrets saying he is retiring from Hollywood.

“I think it was a mistake to say that I was retiring because you never know,” the iconic actor told PEOPLE at the New York premiere of The Old Man & the Gun on Thursday.

“It did feel like it was time maybe, to concentrate on another category.”

The 82-year-old actor admitted that he never should have said that his last film would be the upcoming FOX Searchlight crime-comedy.

“I shouldn’t have said that because it draws attention away from the film.”

Drawing attention away from the film was probably a good thing. The Old Man & The Gun also stars Casey Affleck and I throw up in my mouth a moderate amount every time I see that name in print. It’d be very disappointing if Robert’s last film was sharing screen time with Casey Affleck.

My favorite movie of Robert Redford’s career, like many others’, is ’69 style Robert in Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid. Forgo me ANY of your present day hunks and let me be the bread in a Robert Redford and Paul Newman club sandwich with extra Newman’s Own (creamy) Ranch dressing any day. If I had a time machine, sadly offing Hitler on the playground and preventing Einsteinfrom signing the letter informing Roosevelt to the potential discovery of the formula for the atomic bomb would only be my second and third missions. I am a weak, weak, person and a trailer on the set of Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid would be my first stop.
