Rod Stewart, 75, seen in protective gloves with Penny Lancaster amid coronavirus outbreak

Sir Rod Stewart, 75, and his wife Penny Lancaster, 49, were pictured heading out to breakfast in Los Angeles yesterday morning after the cancellation of his Las Vegas shows.

The pop star was taking no chances amid the recent coronavirus outbreak and donned protective gloves for his outing.

The rocker added the precautionary measure to reduce his chances of catching the virus, also known as COVID-19.

Rod and Penny, who have been married since 2007 and have two sons together, put on a cosy display when they stepped out in the sunshine on Sunday morning.

The pair were snapped holding hands as they made their way along the street in Bel Air.

According to the local media, Los Angeles County reported 16 new cases of coronavirus by midday on Sunday, taking the county’s total to 69.

Of the 335 cases in California, 116 patients are 65 or older.

Rod was casually dressed for his breakfast date yesterday, wearing a white Celtic hooded jumper over a pair of ripped jeans.

He protected his eyes from the sunshine with a pair of dark sunglasses.

His model wife Penny opted for a pair of cropped leggings worn with a T-shirt and leather jacket.

She wore her hair loose and completed her laid-back look with a pair of trainers.
