Celebrity Big Brother’s Roxanne Pallett spoke out about being in a violent relationship ten years before accusing Ryan Thomas of launching an "unprovoked and deliberate" attack on her inside the CBB house.
The actress, who at the time was playing Jo Sugden in Emmerdale, appeared on This Morning in 2008 to reveal how Jo’s domestic violence storyline was having a huge impact on her mental and physical health.
The Emmerdale plot at the time showed Jo being frequently beaten by on-screen husband Andy Sugden, played by Kelvin Fletcher, and Roxy said filming for the violent scenes was "devastating".
"I have been living this storyline since Christmas and you’re researching it and it brings it all back to you and it’s devastating," she told This Morning.
"I can’t even watch these scenes back without it choking me up."
She went on: "I was in an abusive relationship. It’s hard for me because it’s so close to home. It brings it all back to you.

"I watched it with my mum and she held my hand through it all because it’s so devastating."
When asked why she didn’t leave her relationship when it became violent, Roxanne explained it wasn’t as easy as just walking out the door.
"I think it’s hard because you become dependent on someone, they get under your skin," she reflected.
Roxanne refused to name her abuser on screen but her camp said at the time it wasn’t ex-Coronation Street star Richard Fleeshman, who she’d dated when he was 16 and she 22 for 18 months.
A few months after her TV appearance, Roxanne revealed that the stress and strain of filming such harrowing scenes had caused her weight to go from a size 4 to a size 10.
"Instead of going home to my boyfriend I now go home to a tub of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream," she said.
"I’m working 12 hours a day doing emotionally draining scenes. To deal with it I’ve been treating myself to crisps or chocolate on set and puddings when I get home."
Her old comments have resurfaced after Roxanne made an official complaint about Ryan Thomas punching her inside the CBB house.
She demanded to sleep in a separate bedroom on August 30 after bursting into tears in the Diary Room and claiming she’d been "punched repeatedly, unprovoked and completely deliberately" by Ryan.
Roxanne accused him of punching her "like a boxer would punch", adding: "We weren’t play fighting. It wasn’t banter or a joke. There was no exchange.
"I can’t believe you’re letting somebody stay who’s done that. It’s not OK," she added before bursting into tears.
Ryan has since been given an official formal warning by Big Brother and told his behaviour is unacceptable, but has received an outpouring of support from his Coronation Street ex-colleagues, brother Scott Thomas and girlfriend Lucy Mecklenburgh, who have all slammed Roxanne for appearing to laugh off the ‘play-fighting’ initially.
