Scarlett Johansson Denies Claim She Auditioned To Date Scientologist Tom Cruise

Johannson called the claim “demeaning.”

Scarlett Johansson has denied a claim made by a former Scientologist that she auditioned to be in a relationship with Tom Cruise following his split from Nicole Kidman many years ago.

"The very idea of any person auditioning to be in a relationship is so demeaning," Johansson said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. "I refuse for anyone to spread the idea that I lack the integrity to choose my own relationships. Only a man aka Brendan Tighe would come up with a crazy story like that."

Wednesday morning, Brendan Tighe, a former member of the Church of Scientology, appeared on "Megyn Kelly Today," to talk about this previous experience with the church. In the interview he claimed that when he worked at the church he saw a report that "accidentally" was sent to his printer (Tighe says he was a member of Cruise’s Scientology security unit at the time).

Tighe claims the report revealed that Johansson was one of the women that was said to have auditioned to date Cruise — a claim the church has previously denied after Lawrence Wright’s 2013 book "Going Clear" asserted that Hollywood actresses auditioned to date the mega-star.

According to Tighe, Johansson’s audition "didn’t go well."

"It [the report] just simply said that it didn’t go well and that another actress, Erika Christensen [who was friends with Johansson], had to disconnect from Scarlett Johansson because that didn’t go well," Tighe said. "That was in that report."

TooFab has contacted reps for Erika Christensen regarding Tighe’s assertions about the actress.

Karin Pouw, head of media relations for the Church of Scientology International, denied Tighe’s claims about the level of importance he had within the church and the kind of access he had to Cruise.

"Brendan Tighe was a Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization security guard/night watchman from 2002 to 2009," Pouw told "Megyn Kelly Today."

"The ‘access’ he boasts of having was largely limited to viewing security cameras from a guard booth. He was removed from that position for dereliction of duty," Pouw claimed.

TooFab has contacted reps for Tom Cruise regarding Tighe’s claims.
