An inquest into the death of former Love Island star, Sophie Gradon, was opened today.

Former Miss Great Britain, Sophie, 32, died suddenly last week after battling anxiety and depression.

It is thought she was discovered at her parents’ £990,000 home in the village of Medburn in Northumberland in an upstairs room by her boyfriend Aaron Armstrong.

The beautiful reality star, who appeared in the 2016 series of the ITV2 dating show, was reportedly house sitting while her parents were away.

Her parents, dad Colin Gradon, who runs a successful landscaping company and mother Deborah, issued a statement, before the hearing.

“Our hearts are broken.”

Shortly after leaving the villa two years ago, Sophie admitted the experience let her feeling “fu**ed up”. She later told pals it was one of her “worst experiences”.

And she revealed three months ago how “crippling anxiety” left her feeling scared to leave the house.

At a short hearing in North Shields, North Tyneside, the assistant coroner Trevor Carroll, opened the investigation into the circumstances behind her death.

Mr Carroll said: “It falls upon me to open an inquest into the death of Sophie Hannah Gradon who died on the 20th June 2018.

“Pending initial enquiries it is appropriate to open an inquest into her death and adjourn it at this stage…pending further enquiries in order to determine the cause of her death.”

Sophie’s family did not attend the minute-long hearing.

Her 25-year-old boyfriend wrote a tribute to the “girl of his dreams” on Instagram describing her as “my rock”.

“To think I will never see your beautiful smile again haunts me,” he wrote.

“You are the girl of my dreams we spoke of having kids and spending the rest of our lives together.

“I’m so devastated that we will never get that chance to grow old together and raise a family.

“I love you with all my heart Sophie u will always be in my heart you are my angel and I know that you will be by my side everyday.”

A friend said Sophie had been suffering from depression and anxiety and there was “talk of financial issues”.

A full inquest will take place at a later date to be fixed.
