The “Southern Charm” star, 25, told co-star Danni Baird on Thursday’s episode that she was diagnosed with the conditions while completing a rehab stint in 2016. She revealed that she continues to struggle with her mental health, which is why she couldn’t be reached by her friends.
“It’s really difficult to explain,” Dennis said on the show. “With everything going on like the Ashley [Jacobs] stuff, it’s just been a lot, and I felt like I literally just took a mental break and shut my phone off, locked myself in my apartment,” Kathryn says. “It wasn’t intentional. I didn’t see anyone’s messages until like two days ago.”
Jacobs, Thomas Ravenel’s new girlfriend, got into a heated fight with Dennis over not being invited to their son St. Julien’s second birthday party. She later criticized Dennis’ parenting skills with the tot and his sister, Kensie, 3.
When Baird told Dennis she was worried about her, Dennis responded: “You have to understand, it’s difficult to explain to people that maybe don’t deal with depression. I have been on meds for a while now, dealing with depression. And as far as living sober and being happy that way, I’ve been doing well. I got a job now. I thought to myself, I don’t need these. So I just stopped taking them and I didn’t really realize how it would affect me, and it really did. It increased my anxiety. It increased my emotional response. And it snowballed. And I’ve been in a way kind of ashamed.”
It is unclear whether Dennis is currently taking her medication.
Dennis’ rep didn’t immediately return a request for comment.
