Islam Slimani could have played his last game for Newcastle after being charged last night with violent conduct.
Slimani’s ill-fated loan move from Leicester in the January window has seen him start just one game and play a total of 130 minutes, costing Newcastle £27,000 per minute of action.
And he now faces a three-match ban after kicking out at West Brom’s Craig Dawson in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat.
The FA acted after reviewing video evidence. A statement said: “Islam Slimani has been charged with violent conduct following an incident during the game against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
“It happened in the 80th minute and was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.
“He has until 6pm, 1 May 2018 to respond to the charge.”
Alan Shearer labelled the kick “stupid.” He added: “You’ve hardly even played for Newcastle and that’s probably the last time he will play for Newcastle.
“He will get a three-match ban, I have no doubt about it.”
