Summer time’s coming and love is in the air! Model Bella Hadid and her musician ex-boyfriend, The Weeknd, got cozy at the Cannes Film Festival Magnum x Alexander Wang party on Thursday, May 10. As the star of the new Magnum campaign (it’s an ice cream, not a condom), Hadid arrived early with Wang, and The Weeknd wasn’t far behind.
While the musician (known for songs like “Starboy” and popular Lana Del Rey collab, “Lust For Life”) was most recently tied to Selena Gomez, there was chatter that Hadid did a bit of harmless Insta-stalking when she found out the two had parted ways.
Hadid opened up about her relationship with the singer in February 2017.
“It was my first breakup… and so public,” Hadid told Teen Vogue. “As an outsider, you might think I handled it so well, but it’s always in your heart, and you always feel it very heavily. It’ll be hard for a while. Love hurts, but you have to pull through.”
“But I’ll always respect him, and I’ll always love him,” she added.
Hadid might not be over her former beau, but now we know the feeling is mutual, and we’re pretty thrilled. Absence makes the heart grow yonder… or is it fonder? After time spent apart, the two have had the chance to regroup. Hadid was recently named a Dior Beauty ambassador and the new ambassador for Bulgari’s accessory line, as well as the face of TAG Heuer. She’s kept busy and hyper-focused on her career. You’d think all this would detract from her love of The Weeknd, but it seems she’s got the space (and hopefully a little time) to let him back into her heart.
These two also have crazy chemistry. At the Magnum party, they reportedly couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Hadid was spotted lovingly squeezing his cheeks and kissing him multiple times. The couple was also seen smooching at Coachella a few weeks ago.
Although Hadid commented on an E! News Instagram post about the alleged reunion and claimed “it wasn’t me,” we want to believe the outlet has the scoop. After all, their love runs deep — The Weeknd even wrote a song about the 21-year-old. Although it’s rumored that most of The Weeknd’s new album, My Dear Melancholy, focuses on his breakup with Gomez, one track entitled “Wasted Times” sounds like it’s dedicated to his true love:
“Wasted times I spent with someone else / She wasn’t even half of you,” the track goes.
It’s pretty obvious who he’s talking about there, right?
Here’s hoping this honeymoon phase lasts, um, forever.
