Strictly bosses are hoping to persuade Mike Tindall to swap a rugby ball for a glitterball.
The former England ace, who is married to the Queen’s granddaughter Zara, is a hot property in the current fever surrounding the Royal Family.
Amid all the excitement over the arrival of new baby Prince Louis and the wedding of Harry and Meghan, telly bosses believe Mike, 39, would be perfect for the show.
A source said: “They are keen to bag Mike in the year of one of the biggest royal weddings the world has ever seen. They think he’d be great on the show as he’s shown himself to be a big character and they are certain he would be a fans’ favourite.”
Mike has embraced publicity in the past and sources say he has told pals he would never rule out a Strictly stint.
He has always made the point that he and Zara, 36, pay their own way and don’t get royal handouts.
He does not ask the Monarchy for permission before taking public roles but does think of possible consequences.
The source added: “Mike has said he could be up for tackling a dance partner.
“A payday on Strictly plus opportunities around it would be a big boost.”
Mike was spotted this week sporting a noticeably straighter nose in the run-up to Prince Harry’s wedding next Saturday.
His conk previously veered to the left after eight breaks. But he has said in the past he was struggling to breathe and would need to undergo corrective surgery.
He and Zara, who is the daughter of Princess Anne, are also gearing up for the birth of their baby. The couple are parents to four-year-old Mia.
The BBC said the new Strictly line-up would be announced “in due course”.
