Susanna Reid was reunited with her former BBC Breakfast co-star Bill Turnbull on Good Morning Britain today. The 50-year-old ITV presenter told her colleague he was looking “exceptionally well” amid his cancer treatment, as he returned to host the show.

Bill, 65, told fans he’d been diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2018, months after learning the news himself.

Earlier today, he spoke about the treatment he’s been undergoing.

The TV star joked that he was “radioactive”, as every six weeks he has radioactive isotope injected into him.

Bill went on to reveal the side effects of his treatment.

“It makes you so live, so to speak, that I have to sleep in a separate room [from his wife] for three days.

“No prolonged contact with small children or pregnant women for six days and – this will be a great loss to the world – for six months after my last treatment I’m not allowed to father any children.”

“Right,” Susanna said, before adding: “Is Sessie [Bill’s wife Sarah McCrombie] relieved about that? Or slightly disappointed?”

“I think everybody is pretty relieved to hear that,” Bill replied.

Dr Hilary Jones, who was also on the show, went into further details.

“It’s a novel treatment and it’s very interesting. So it combines a synthetic hormone with a radionuclide, a radioactive particle.

“So what happens is you’re given this by-injection by intravenous infusion, as you say, every four to eight weeks on numerous occasions and what happens is that the hormone binds it to the cells which you want it to destroy and the radioactive component does the rest.

“It reduces your symptoms, it increases life expectancy and it improves quality of life. So you’re finding it tolerable, you’re a bit radioactive after the dose and you have to keep away from anyone who is pregnant and from children. But it looks to be doing very well!”

Delighted to be reunited with Bill, Susanna took to social media this morning to share a picture of the pair in the studio.

The Classic FM host has returned to front Good Morning Britain with his former co-host for a week, following the exit of Piers Morgan earlier this year.

“Bill’s back! And he’s big on timekeeping @gmb @billtu,” the mum-of-three captioned her snap.

Susanna looked radiant in a green dress, while Bill looked dapper in a blue suit and matching tie.

Many took to the comments section of her post to share their thoughts.

“True class, Bill Turnbull a thoroughly good, professional and honest presenter. Pleased to see him back onscreen looking well,” one follower wrote.

“The dream team reunited. Bill is such a professional with effortless charm, gravitas and intelligence. Really enjoying @gmb with you both on together,” another added.

Sharing a similar sentiment a third remarked: “Such natural chemistry between you both…. it really comes across #doinggreatbill.”
