Taylor Swift's Home Was Damaged After a Stolen Car Slammed Into It

Taylor Swift’s Rhode Island home faced some unexpected damage this week when people driving a stolen car crashed into her front gate, according to the Westerly police.

Police started pursuing the car, which was stolen in Connecticut, at about 1 a.m. on Tuesday. They say the car sped away several times and eventually crashed into Taylor’s wall and then ricocheted into her front gate.

A 19-year-old named Shykeim Edwin Lewis faces several charges and is being held on a $10,000 bond. There were three other people in the car with him, and none of them are facing charges.

Taylor has been open about how she fears for her safety on a regular basis. She told Elle in a recent interview that she carries army-grade supplies with her at all times in case of a gunshot or stab wound.

“After the Manchester Arena bombing and the Vegas concert shooting, I was completely terrified to go on tour this time because I didn’t know how we were going to keep three million fans safe over seven months. There was a tremendous amount of planning, expense, and effort put into keeping my fans safe,” she said.

And just last month, her alleged stalker was arrested for breaking into her apartment again.

“You get enough stalkers trying to break into your house and you kind of start prepping for bad things,” she said. “Every day I try to remind myself of the good in the world, the love I’ve witnessed and the faith I have in humanity. We have to live bravely in order to truly feel alive, and that means not being ruled by our greatest fears.”
