“This Is Us” star Chrissy Metz is set to perform along with country superstar Carrie Underwood at the 2019 ACM Awards.
Metz makes her feature film debut in upcoming movie Breakthrough, which is set for release on April 17.
Metz recorded a song titled “I’m Standing With You” for the film’s soundtrack, which also features a variety of country artists including Underwood, Lauren Alaina, Mickey Guyton, Darius Rucker, Maddie & Tae and more.
According to Nashville’s Tennessean newspaper, Metz will perform “I’m Standing With You” during the live ACM Awards broadcast on Sunday alongside Underwood, Alaina, Maddie & Tae and Guyton.
The 2019 ACM Awards are set to air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 7, at 8 pm ET on CBS.
Metz was able to fulfill her dream of singing through the film. Metz said she has “always wanted to pursue music” but didn’t have the means, outlet or encouragement.
“As an actress, you’re not always taken seriously as a singer,” Metz explained. “You can’t always cross over, whether it’s drama to comedy or an actress to musician. I can’t even believe it’s happening. I really, really can’t. It’s been a gift on top of a gift.”
