VMA presenter Tiffany Haddish left viewers reeling after throwing a whole heap of shade on Fifth Harmony as their ex bandmate Camilla Cabello picked up two awards.
As she presented the award for Best Hip Hop Video, Haddish praised the 21-year-old for her nominations: "Camilla Cabello is nominated for five VMAs tonight . I’m super proud of her," said Haddish. "So for those of you watching at home, hi Fifth Harmony."
Camilla split from Fifth Harmony back in December of 2016 and fans will remember the group mimed kicking her off stage at last years ceremony.
And it appears Cuban-born Camilla may have had the last laugh as she picked up the acclaimed artist of the year award.
Accepting the award, looking gorgeous in an Oscar De La Renta gown, she gushed: "Thank you so much. I can’t believe this is for me, thank you so much. Thank you so much to my fans, I love you guys so much. I’m fully aware that you never know when you’re going to get a moment like this again, you never know when it’s going to be your last time on this stage.
"But the relationship I have with you guys, with my fans, is a forever thing. And — oh, my heart is beating so fast … I can’t breathe! You guys have been here for me since the beginning, and I’m going to be here for you ’til the very end. I love you guys so much.”
MTV VMAs 2018
After Tiffany’s Fifth Harmony shade, Nicki Minaj decided to defend at least one of the now defunct group.
On stage she said: “Don’t be coming for Fifth Harmony because Normani is That Bitch." Normani Kordei is featured on her new album Queen.
The VMAs have a reputation for provocative stunts but, aside from a segment on U.S. President Donald Trump’s controversial immigration policies, there were few surprises.
Rapper Logic was joined onstage by dozens of immigrant children and their families wearing white t-shirts saying "We are all human beings," for a performance of his song One Day.
The song is a protest against the policy that saw thousands of immigrant children separated from their parents in June after crossing the southern border with Mexico without documents.
