Tina O’Brien reveals heartbreaking truth behind Ryan Thomas split

Tina O’Brien once opened up about the ‘devastating’ way Ryan Thomas ended their six-year relationship, just a week before their daughter Scarlett celebrated her first birthday.

The former Coronation Street stars found love on the popular ITV soap when they starred as Sarah-Louise Platt and Jason Grimshaw.

Making for quite the dream soap coupling, the pair welcomed their first child together, daughter Scarlett, in 2008 but their relationship did not make it past Scarlett’s first birthday.

And now it seems as though the tension still exists between Tina and Ryan, with speculation that she has been making social media digs about his baby news with fiancee Lucy Mecklenburgh.

Nine years ago, Tina, 36, revealed how her relationship with Ryan came to an end back in 2009.

Speaking to New! Magazine at the time, the actress said: ‘About a week before Scarlett’s first birthday, he said he didn’t love me anymore.

‘He said I “didn’t do it for him anymore”. Those were his words.’

Tina admitted she was ‘absolutely devastated’ and said claims Ryan said he ‘didn’t want the responsibility of a relationship’ with her.

She added: ‘Ryan can be a very loving and nice guy, but he can also be laddy. He was keen to go out a lot.’

Last weekend, Ryan and Lucy announced the exciting news that they are expecting their first child together.

Then just two days later, he shared footage of Scarlett’s reaction after learning the baby news to Instagram.

Scarlett, now aged 10, is visibly stunned by the news and is speechless before covering her face and crying ‘happy tears’.

It seemed the youngster was overjoyed with the prospect of becoming a big sister, but Tina’s reported social media activity suggests otherwise.

In one now deleted post, Tina posted a quote from author Paulo Coelho, which read: ‘Don’t waste your time with explanations. People will hear what they want to hear.’

However it was deleted and replaced with: ‘Don’t always trust what you see on Social media. Even salt looks like sugar.’

Tina’s followers questioned the timings of the posts as they coincided with Ryan and Lucy’s baby announcement.
