Tom Arnold Splits From Wife of Ten Years: ‘There Doesn’t Have to Be a Bad Guy’

AceShowbizTom Arnold has called it quits with his wife of ten years. On Monday night, January 21, the former writer for ABC sitcom “Roseanne” confirmed that he and Ashley Groussman have agreed to maturely put an end to their marriage, further insisting that neither one of them was to blame in the separation.

Addressing the split, The “True Lies” actor noted that it was hard for his wife. “Sometimes in our society people put things on. Especially women, they can feel guilty,” he told Us Weekly. “And I kept saying, ‘Hey, listen. … You have done everything. We’ve been together. You’ve been amazing. There doesn’t have to be a reason. There doesn’t have to be a bad guy.’ “

The 59-year-old comedian didn’t deny he knew he and his estranged wife couldn’t stay together for a long time. Still, he looked back on it with fondness. “It’s a long time coming and we have been together for almost 11 years. And very grateful. I have many good years,” he shared. “I have my children because my wife.”

On what led to their decision to part ways, the ex-husband of Roseanne Barr explained, “For the last couple years, couple three years, it’s been very unusual in the house. But my kids and I have a whole life, a wonderful life. I’ve been telling my wife, ‘It’s OK. Just do whatever you gotta do.’ So, she moved out.” He further reasoned, “She has one life and she gets to live it exactly the way … The same thing with everybody.”

Arnold and Groussman tied the knot in 2009. Together, they have two children, five-year-old son Jax and three-year-old daughter Quinn. Before being involved with Groussman, Arnold married Barr from 1990 to 1994. He went on to tie the knot with Julie Lynn Champnella in 1995. The marriage ended up in a divorce in 1999. Three years later, he wedded Shelby Ross, before splitting in 2008.
