Wayne and Coleen Rooney throw support behind X-Factor’s Anthony Russell

Anthony Russell’s bid to win the X-Factor has received a real kick – England and Manchester United goalscoring great Wayne Rooney has thrown his weight behind him.

Rooney and wife Coleen are backing the 28-year-old proving that Scousers stick together.

Everton fan Anthony got a pre-final visit from the former Toffees icon, now playing in the United States with DC United.

Sharing a picture of them all online, Coleen wrote: “Good luck to @antrussellmusic tonight on @thexfactor final!”

The family are getting behind the hopeful after they first met at Rooney’s final England game against the USA over two weeks ago.

Russell this week broke his silence after shocking fans by FaceTiming a notorious prisoner.

He sparked controversy when he was caught video chatting with jailed Michael Trevillion, who was using a mobile phone that had been smuggled into prison.

He posted a video of himself and fellow finalist Scarlett in the X Factor house as they expressed their disbelief that they’re in the final.

Anthony also sent out a string of posts on his Instagram Story, but again failed to address the controversial video chat.
