Jose Mourinho has been labelled “extraordinary” and backed to prove his doubters wrong at Manchester United .
Mourinho secured three pieces of silverware in his first season in charge at Old Trafford, the Community Shield, Carabao Cup and Europa League.
But, despite finishing second last season, the 19-point gap between champions Manchester City and United, his side’s style of football and some of Mourinho’s methods sparked doubts about whether he is really Special anymore.
Successive defeats against Brighton and Tottenham last month cranked up the pressure on Mourinho.
Though those have since been eased by back-to-back wins at Burnley and Watford .
One place where Mourinho will always be thought of fondly is at Inter Milan where he won the league in both his seasons in charge at the San Siro.
And by adding the Coppa Italia and Champions League to his 2010 title triumph Mourinho’s Inter became the first Italian team in history to win the treble.
Having begun his Inter reign by winning the Italian Supercup by the time he finished his two years at the club he had won all the domestic trophies available for a Serie A manager.
Mourinho’s former defender Maicon said: “Mourinho, not only for me, but he was extraordinary for all the players in our squad. He managed to motivate everyone to the maximum and he made every one of us very important.
“Mourinho is a great manager and I don’t have any doubt that he will get through this difficult time.”
