Why Meghan might wear shorter dresses now she’s pregnant – and Kate did the same

Meghan Markle has been showing off her growing baby bump in some stunning outfits since announcing she’s expecting her first child.

Even though her bump is still fairly small, she’s picked several dresses which really highlight it to the delight of excited royal fans.

Fashion experts don’t believe she’ll change her fashionable style but there is one thing they’re expecting more of in the coming months – higher hemlines.

Cecile Reinaud, the woman behind one of Kate’s favourite maternity brands Seraphine, has revealed the clever reason Meghan might opt for shorter dresses – just like her sister-in-law did during her three pregnancies.

In an interview with InStyle, she explains: "She’s likely to have quite a big bump because she’s quite a petite build … so highlighting legs and arms is always a good trick to keep a nice silhouette.

"[Kate] did [go shorter] for sure. She went shorter, on a couple of occasions well above her knee, which she never does normally.

"And especially in winter, because when she wore opaque black tights, it looks okay. It doesn’t look too much because it’s not bare legs."

Meghan was seem wearing a dress which was shorter than her normal style during her Royal Tour – a stunning £445 white white tuxedo style mini dress from Maggie Marilyn.

Meghan and Harry revealed they are expecting their first child on the eve of their Australian adventure.

The exact due date hasn’t been made public, but Kensington Palace has revealed the new little royal is expected in the spring.
