‘My new favourites’: Former Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman names £39.50 woven heels from M&S as her shoe of the summer – prompting fans to head for the shops

You would expect a woman who spent 25 years at the helm of a style bible to have a wardrobe full of Manolos and Jimmy Choos.
However, ex-Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman, 60, has given a pair of cream woven heels from M&S her seal of approval as her shoe of the summer.
The style maven took to Instagram to share her love of the £39.50 courts, saying: ‘New wardrobe favourites for my white shoe collection.’
And followers were very impressed by her taste with several commenting that they had already snapped up a pair, while others added they would soon be making a purchase.

It’s not the first time this season M&S has sent customers into a frenzy with a must-have purchase.

Alexandra stepped down from her role as Vogue editor in June 2017, and was replaced by Edward Enninful.
And she recently revealed that she may never have taken on the position in the first place if she hadn’t been the main ‘breadwinner’.
The admitted that the need to for her family contributed to her decision to continue as editor of the magazine for so long rather than working as a writer.

Explaining her decision to take on the major role – despite not being a ‘natural leader’ – she said: ‘I was well paid to edit a magazine and run a team, in a way that I might not have been as a writer.
‘I had always been the breadwinner, and everything that I had depended on me earning that money.’
Shulman, 60, had her son Sam with former husband Paul Spike three years before joining British Vogue, and also looked after Spike’s stepchildren Matthew and Emma
