Shadow chancellor Anneliese Dodds showcased a pre-Budget makeover today as she appeared on the Andrew Marr show.

The Oxford East MP, 42, unveiled her spruced up appearance while stepping out in a vibrant blue coat to attend the interview, which comes days before the Budget on Wednesday.

The mother-of-two sported new darker locks, neatly styled into a short bob and opted for subtle makeup, with a flick of eyeliner and a soft nude lip.

The transformation shows the politician has come a long way in the fashion stakes since her appearances last year, in which she showed off her more natural red-coloured hair and often went make-up free.

She donned a floral face covering on her way to the Broadcasting House.

Once inside the BBC building, the shadow chancellor whipped off her bright jacket to reveal a chic monochrome ensemble.

The politician opted for a smart cropped jacket with a curved hem, with a simple black mini-dress beneath for the appearance on the morning programme.

During her appearance on the show the shadow chancellor said changes to the tax system have been needed ‘for a very long time’, however warned against an immediate rise in corporation tax.

She said the opposition will look at a long term plan to raise tax favourably, but is ‘concerned’ about additional taxes on business at the moment.

‘I would be concerned about additional taxes on business right now’, she said.

‘Particularly if there aren’t changes to allowances, this is currently really clamping down on business confidence, on confidence in our recovery.’

Only elected to Parliament in 2017, the Oxford East MP leapt from the role of a junior shadow Treasury minister to one of the most senior roles in politics after Sir Keir succeeded Jeremy Corbyn last year.

But 42-year-old former academic appeared almost unrecognisable today compared to her early public interviews, in which she often swept her curly hair into a tight ponytail and often opted for a no-makeup look.

Labour MP for Oxford East since June 2017, Anneliese Dodds previously served under Jeremy Corbyn as a shadow Treasury minister – a position she took up just a month after being elected to Parliament.

Before taking up her seat in Westminster three years ago, the new shadow chancellor represented Oxford as an MEP, where she served on the economic and monetary affairs committee.

She hit the headlines last April when her young daughter burst into the room during a live TV interview.

Appearing via a videolink from home in Oxford, the mother-of-two coolly smiled and continued with barely any sign of disturbance when Isabella burst into the room.

‘I thought she was going to stay asleep, sorry… so embarrassing,’ she said, asked about the moment at the interview’s close. ‘She’s thankfully under the chair now.

In her life before politics, Ms Dodds worked as an academic and it is thought her research focused on public policy and risk in different industries, sectors and nations.

According to her website, housing and investment in public services including the NHS, social care and schools are among her key interests.

Her website also says that she lives on Rose Hill, Oxfordshire, with her partner Ed and two children, Freddie and Isabella.
