Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are getting ready to welcome their first child. The couple is expecting their baby, charmingly known as Baby Sussex, at the end of April. But things have moved very quickly so far in their relationship, and it has the public wondering if they’ve already got their minds on baby no. 2.
Harry and Meghan haven’t slowed down since they started dating
This royal couple has definitely moved quickly since they met. Harry and Meghan were introduced in 2016 and hit it off right away. They dated for about a year and a half before Harry was ready to propose. The couple announced their engagement in November 2017, planned a wedding in only six months, and were married in May 2018. People expected the two would waste little time in starting a family, but nobody predicted Meghan would be pregnant by July. In October 2018, the couple announced they were expecting their first child in spring 2019. Now, with Meghan’s due date only a few weeks away, it’s possible the couple is already thinking about a second child.
The couple has mentioned having several children
When Harry and Meghan were asked about children in the past, they always made it clear that they were excited to start a family. Harry has always loved children; he lights up around them and has said for years that he can’t wait to have kids of his own. While at a royal engagement before they wed, Meghan and Harry met a husband and wife who make baby products for a living. Meghan joked that they would need “a whole lot” of baby goods at some point, indicating that the two plan to have more than one child. But Harry also once said that as many as five kids would be too many.
Their two-bedroom apartment would be large enough for one child — but they moved anyway
The couple announced late last year that they would be moving from their apartment in Kensington Palace to a much larger cottage at Windsor Castle. (Prince Harry and Prince William also divided their households.) While their apartment, which had two bedrooms, was plenty large enough for a baby, it wouldn’t be large enough for two babies. And Meghan and Harry probably wouldn’t have wanted to do all the renovating to their new home while caring for a child, so it makes sense that they went ahead and made the move before they had their first — they’re seemingly certain there will be another baby coming along.

Evidence suggests age plays a role in fertility, so they’re likely going to have another child soon after the first
While it is definitely possible for Meghan to have another
baby, scientific evidence suggests that fertility does
start to decline after 35. And Meghan will be 37 when she has her first
baby, which means the youngest she can have another baby is 38. Since the
couple probably want to have several children, it makes sense that they’re
already planning for when they can welcome that second child. Meghan may want
to try and have another baby before she’s 40, so it likely won’t be long before
the two announce another pregnancy. For now, though, they’re still preparing to
be parents of one.
