Aspiring model, 15, found dead in park ‘after being seen in distress’

A teenage girl's body was found in a park after being seen in 'distress' and her death is being probed by police as unexplained.

Heartbroken friends have paid tribute to 15-year-old Sephora Laforge, who was found dead in George V Park in Edinburgh.

A member of the public found the body of the budding model and actress in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Police sources claim Sephora – believed to be a pupil at George Watson's College – had been seen in some distress on Monday night, the Daily Record reported.

The teen, whose family are said to be originally from France, was with friends the night before she died.

Police Scotland said her death is not suspicious but is being treated as unexplained.

Devastated friends said Sephora, who had a large social media presence, was a popular girl.

One said: “She was gorgeous and funny. She was an absolute angel.

"I wish I could tell her everything is going to be OK. We are all devastated. This is the worst news ever.

"She told people she was feeling depressed and down but nobody thought this would happen.”

Heartbroken pals paid tribute to Sephora on social media.

One wrote: “Sephora Laforge gone but never forgotten. Rest in peace you gorgeous angel.”

Friends are planning to light lanterns near the park on Thursday night to pay tribute to her.

It is understood her father lives overseas.

Police said inquiries into the circumstances of the teenager’s death are ongoing.

A spokesperson said: “At about 7.40am on Tuesday, October 22, the body of a female was found in the King George V Park, Eyre Place, Edinburgh.

“Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing and the death is being treated as unexplained at this stage.”
