A bar posted one of its negative reviews online to make a point about coronavirus safety measures.
Voodoo Belfast, in northern Ireland’s capital, shared feedback from a punter called ‘Okim’.
The customer moaned when Voodoo made him conduct a "medical exam”, Belfast Live reports.
This involved following Covid precautionary measures such as asking customers to wear a mask indoors and taking their temperatures before entry.
The reviewer goes on to complain about being prompted to participate in track and trace (which the UK government have said is necessary to help break the chain of transmissions).
They then said they left Voodoo to go to another bar, which had "no mention of wearing a mask, no gun, no track and trace!"
The two star review by Okim reads:
"Shame. We were looking forward for a pint in here once opened again.
“Unfortunately on entering it was like we had to conduct a medical exam first.
“Waiter almost had a fit as we had no mask on and told us to move back to the door. We told him we were exempt, which he said was ok.
"Next, before asking, he went at me with the temperature gun, invading my personal space and privacy! I recoiled. No thank you.
“We told him we'd go elsewhere, before the his track and trace clipboard came out. Way over the top. Not a pleasant experience.
“I understand that government guidelines are in place for establishments, but this is not law. We went to another bar, no mention of wearing a mask, no guns, no track and trace!”
Instead of letting the negative review get them down, staff at Voodoo Belfast have worn it as a badge of honour.
The complaint is testament to how seriously employees are taking punters’ safety.
The bar owners shared the review online, alongside the caption: "When is a bad review actually a good review?
"Answer: In the middle of a pandemic.
"At Voodoo we want to ensure all of our staff and customers are safe. We want to show governments and scientists that live music can come back again and it’s in safe hands."
Speaking to Belfast Live about the post, Voodoo's general manager said: "Everybody's entitled to their own opinion, but we saw that posted in a public forum and we thought it was right to have the chance to give our own say on it."
Numerous people responded by congratulating Voodoo on promoting safety above all else, with one Twitter user saying: "Well done Voodoo for putting those measures in place."
Another added: "Much prefer to go to an establishment that took customers & staff well-being seriously."
