How Broadway's Taylor Louderman Handled Rejection Before Tina Fey Cast Her in Mean Girls

Taylor Louderman has always dreamed of becoming a Broadway star. But coming from a “small town where the cattle population exceeds the human population,” she never thought that dream would become a reality.

Her biggest wish was granted in 2012 when the national tour of Bring It On: The Musical began its Broadway run at the St. James Theatre. Though it was a culture shock moving to NYC, Louderman’s role in the musical only fed her ambitions further. 

And that led her to audition for the part of Regina George in Mean Girls.

Her first tryout was in front of Saturday Night Live alum and writer of the musical, Tina Fey, whom she said was “so lovely.” The talented actress’ portrayal of the “sexy…sassy…idiot” has earned her a Best Actress nomination at this year’s Tony Awards. Mean Girls has also been nominated for eleven other awards, which Louderman hopes is a “reflection of all that hard work.”
