It’s official: “Star Wars” and “Avatar” will be as synonymous with Christmas as Santa Claus for the near future.
With two humongous franchises now under the same roof, thanks to the Disney’s acquisition of Fox, the mega-studio is wasting no time planning your holiday movie seasons until 2027.
Following the release of “The Rise of Skywalker” (Dec. 20, 2019), three new “Star Wars” movies have been announced for Dec. 16, 2022; Dec. 20, 2024; and Dec. 18, 2026. What appears to be an upcoming film trilogy – perhaps the planned series from “Game of Thrones” creators David Benioff and D.B Weiss – comes on the heels of last month’s Star Wars Celebration, where Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy told USA TODAY that “Star Wars” was going to “take a pause” after the conclusion of the Skywalker saga later this year.
