There’s an arts explosion happening down the Jersey Shore. Running through Sunday, the fourth annual Asbury Park Music + Film Festival boasts 29 films along with musical performances by Garden State resident Wyclef Jean and Low Cut Connie, plus talks with some of the shore’s best homegrown talent.
Saturday night will also be a homecoming of sorts for Asbury Park’s Emmy-winning native Danny DeVito, who’ll take the Paramount Theatre stage for “An Evening With Danny DeVito.” Documentaries that are screening include “If I Leave Here Tomorrow,” about Lynyrd Skynyrd, and rock photographer and director Danny Clinch will be on the panel Jersey Storytellers Project: Music, Movies & Me.
A highlight on Saturday is the panel discussion Women in Entertainment, moderated by New York Post features writer Kirsten Fleming. Panelists at the 2 p.m. event at Wonder Bar include record-label exec Meg Harkins, who helped develop the Voices in Entertainment group and its #WhyIWearAWhiteRose movement at the Grammys, and “True Detective” producer Carol Cuddy.
Proceeds will benefit the underserved youth of Asbury Park.
