Even when she’s offscreen, Dame Helen Mirren can’t help but bring the drama.

The 77-year-old Oscar winner matched her hair to her Del Core gown on the Cannes Film Festival 2023 red carpet Monday, arriving at the event’s opening ceremony with a vibrant bright blue ‘do — a striking departure from her usual silver strands.

Mirren accessorized with diamond jewelry, Sole Bliss heels and a paper fan with the hashtag #WorthIt emblazoned across the folds, the latter a nod to her role as a L’Oréal Paris ambassador.

She finished her pastel ensemble with a mani-pedi in the same powder blue hue.

Mirren’s stylist, Lee Harris, shared with Page Six Style that the gown was “custom made for her” by Daniel Del Core and inspired by by a yellow skirt the designer created for his spring collection.

“I thought [the skirt] was absolutely beautiful and he was so kind to reinterpret it for us in a gown in this lovely shade of periwinkle blue — a color we thought would be particularly flattering on Dame Helen,” Harris tells Page Six Style exclusively.

“It is a rather classic design, and I think the blue hair really adds a touch of punk modernity that keeps it all very au courant.”

The Emmy-winning costume designer added, “Cannes is one of those times when it is OK to have some fun and be dramatic, so I think this whole look really sums up the joy that Dame Helen likes to bring to the red carpet.”

Fans flooded social media to praise Mirren for her bold blue look.

“I can’t with her blue hair! She is 🔥,” one person wrote on Instagram.

“I love her and she can do no wrong. 💙💙💙💙,” a second fan wrote.

“That color! 😍,” a third gushed, with another adding, “Epic ❤️❤️❤️.”

“I love when old people dress young, so it’s a YES for me,” one more commented.

This isn’t the first time Mirren has experimented with a daring dye job; she previously colored her tresses bright pink in 2013.

At the time, she told BBC Breakfast she was inspired to try the rosy hue after watching an episode of “America’s Next Top Model.”

“This girl had her pink hair, and I noticed because it came out really quickly,” Mirren said.

“So there she is with really pink hair, and then five days later it’s all gone. So I thought that would be cool, I might have a go at that.”

It would appear she loved the results, as she went pink once more in 2019 — for the Cannes Film Festival, no less.
