Jessica Plummer has swapped the (neon) jungle for the castle life, and watching her on I’m A Celeb every night is really brightening up an otherwise bleak second lockdown.

Though she hasn’t quite had the chance to shine in a challenge just yet, one thing we have spotted shining is her skin. How is it she’s stuck in a castle with no luxuries like make-up, yet she still has an absolutely flawless base?

We felt we had to investigate it immediately and stumbled across a poignant Instagram post from May this year, where 28-year-old Jess bravely opens up about a hidden battle with acne that only started in her twenties.

“Eeek.. so I’ve been psyching myself up to post this pretty much since 6,000 of you told me to. As much as I feel I don’t portray a ‘perfect’ image on my social platforms (and actually try purposely to do the opposite), I've never quite shared something as raw and honest as this,” she writes..

“The first picture was this morning, the second was last year – aka the most stressful period of my life. Albeit nothing to do with my skin, it probably played a big part in why I was breaking out.”

Jess’s relatable words are paired with a before and after shot of her skin. The first shows her current blemish-free base, and the second shows the former EastEnders star with painful-looking spots. The images were taken a year apart.

Jess then admits that “clear skin is something I probably will never naturally have without maintenance."

So how did she manage to banish those pesky blemishes? Because looking at her now, you’d never know she’d had anything but good skin. Jess goes on to mention how she would have loved it to be as simple as cutting down on dairy and sugar in her diet – but the process was more costly than that.

“My breakouts are hormonal, and that isn’t something that can be controlled by diet or cleanliness. To stay on top of my breakouts, I get monthly facials with the phenomenal ladies at Aesthetics Lab London, and I use (gosh I really wish I was sponsored for this post coz their stuff ain’t cheap) ZO Skin products at home.”

Jess also makes sure to work on her skin from inside out.

“I take Advanced Nutrition Programme ‘ACCUMAX’ [£42 here] around my hormonal time of the month, and most importantly, I try to remind myself that there really is ZERO point stressing over s**t you can’t control.”

Let’s hope the stress of the Welsh castle doesn’t send Jess or her skin into meltdown!
