Industries that are still hiring amid coronavirus pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic is upon us and many across the globe are now housebound, their lives thrown into disarray as they are forced to isolate in a bid to help contain the virus.

Although this is set to take a toll on people’s physical and mental well-being, it is also going to be potentially devastating for the economy and people’s bank balances as many businesses are having to close for the foreseeable future resulting in employees losing out on work.

However, it is not all doom and gloom as there are still sectors that are looking for people to work.

Savoy Stewart, a commercial property agency, has gone ahead and analysed all of the 31,387 job listings on Indeed.com to have a look at the industries that are currently hiring.

Therefore if you are out of a job, it might be worth looking into some of these.

The top sector that is on the hunt for staff is the customer service industry and there are 5,252 vacancies. There is even a job at Boots that pays a reasonable annual salary of up to £23,600.

To be expected, next is the nursing sector. Any trained nurses among us can apply to one of 4,639 opportunities, and of course there are 780 doctor jobs out there, though we suspect that is only the tip of the tide…

For non-qualified medical professionals the transport industry have 2,838 jobs listed. Additionally, there are another 2,744 warehouse assistant roles.

This is no doubt due to the fact that many people are self-isolating and working from home so will need deliveries. Online retail giant Amazon has recently announced that they will be hiring 100,000 new workers as a result.

Other roles that are vital in the current climate are cleaners, for which there are 1,724 available and delivery drivers, for which there are 1,508.

Additionally, due to the fact that schools in the UK closed today, childcare is most likely set to boom to assist those working from home. On Indeed.com there are 1,375 vacancies.

For those that want to stay at home, as per the government advice to do so if possible, there are 62 online tutor jobs uploaded over the past few days.

Supermarkets, as we all know, are very busy at the moment and Lidl has recently announced that they are looking to fill 2,500 job roles.
