‘It was five years ago’: The model seemed a bit sheepish when she told her make-up team that she wore a gown by the fast-fashion retailer Topshop to the Met Gala in 2014

‘Why does she sound embarrassed when she went with Topshop?’ one commenter asked. ‘Come on that was an amazing [opportunity] at her age at the time wtf.’

‘This girl is an ungrateful brat. she didn’t deserve to go to the MET period, let alone with Topshop,’ someone else added.

Another person insisted that Kendall needed to learn how to be modest, writing: ‘I love Topshop and they have the best quality clothes. Have you heard of Humble by Kendrick Lamar? SIT DOWN!’

Kendall was just 18 years old when she made her debut at the Met Gala in 2014 — one year after her sister Kim Kardashian attended the event for the first time with her husband Kanye West.

She was just getting her start as a high-fashion model, and she opted for an age-appropriate satin mermaid gown from Topshop for her first time at the ball.

Hitting back: One person called Kendall an ‘ungrateful brat,’ insisting she ‘didn’t deserve’ to go to the event

‘Sit down’ Someone else noted that Kendall needs to learn how to be humble

Kendally has attended the Met Gala every year since, and her meteoric rise to fame has put her in the position to wear top designers to the event.

The supermodel wore a green crystal gown by Calvin Klein in 2015, a cut-out dress by Atelier Versace in 2016, and a La Perla slip in 2017.

Although Kendall said this year’s event would be her fifth time at the Met Gala, her math was a little off. It was actually her fourth.

On Monday evening, Kendall donned a white off-the-shoulder ruched couture top, sheer elbow-length gloves, and couture pants with a train to embody the look of a ‘modern angel.’

The theme of the event was ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.’ and the all-white look was designed by her friend Virgil Abloh, the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s men’s wear collection and the creative director of the Milan-based label Off-White.

‘It was cute’: Someone named Hannah said Kendally was clearly ‘throwing shade at Topshop’

Side note: One person criticized Kendall for never following the theme of the Met Gala

Just saying: One YouTube commenter pointed out that Kendall’s Topshop dress was one of her better looks at the event

Some fans found the look to be underwhelming, and one YouTube commenter pointed out that Kendall’s Topshop dress was one of her better looks at the event.

‘It’s funny how she’s like kind of embarrassed about Topshop, because that’s one of her best ones. That and Calvin Klein, she looked stunning. She’s been looking like some kind of joke these past two years!’ the person wrote.

Kendall was also criticized for shoving an assistant out of the way while she was getting her photo taken on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday evening.

‘Who does Kendall think she is? Did y’all see her push that security guy out of the way!?? #MetGala,’ one person tweeted.

‘Kendall Jenner shows up to the #MetGala in the most bland toilet paper outfit and had the nerve to push one of the handlers out of the way who was just doing his job on the carpet #rude,’ another eye-witness wrote.

Catching heat! Fans were not impressed by Kendall’s off-the-shoulder ruched couture top, sheer elbow-length gloves, and couture pants with a train

Even though Kendall strong-armed her way to get the perfect shot, fans were not impressed with what she was wearing, going so far to call her the ‘blandest person’ at the annual fashion event.’

‘Kendall Jenner is really the blandest person i’ve ever known, this year’s theme is all about opulence and decadence and she rolls up in a white jumpsuit???? i’m telling yall she’s the human version of the colour beige (sic),’ one Twitter user wrote.

Another person commented: ‘Kendall Jenner came through in her finest Fashion Nova jumpsuit. Use code “YAWN” for 10% off #MetGala.’

And someone else bemoaned the unfairness of the world: ‘Kendall Jenner has all that money yet she can’t even follow one simple theme the wrong people always get to be rich.’

Model looks: She glowed under the lights wearing minimal jewelry outside of a set of dazzling earrings

Carpet to carpet: There was an angelic air about Kendall’ outfit, which flowed out at the ankles

Sunday best: Kendall was on theme as she nailed her angelic look

While she caught flack for her tame and rather unimaginative take on the theme — opting for angelic without much flair — she still looked gorgeous as always.

Rihanna, Amal Clooney and Donatella Versace joined Vogue editor Anna Wintour in chairing this year’s Met Gala.

The annual event, which is fundraiser for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in always tied to an exhibition.

This year’s ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’ exhibit examines ‘fashion’s ongoing engagement with the devotional practices and traditions of Catholicism.’

The exhibition combines works of fashion with works of religious art, including 50 ecclesiastical masterworks on loan from the Sistine Chapel sacristy at the Vatican.

Ascending: Her chest was wrapped in a light fabric that covered glamorous gossamer-like opera-length gloves

Those items, which will be on view in the Anna Wintour Costume Center galleries, include papal vestments and accessories, such as rings and tiaras, from the 18th to the early 21st century, the museum said. The items encompass more than 15 papacies.

‘Fashion and religion have long been intertwined, mutually inspiring and informing one another,’ Andrew Bolton, head curator of the institute, said in a statement.

‘Although this relationship has been complex and sometimes contested, it has produced some of the most inventive and innovative creations in the history of fashion.’

The 150 fashion ensembles come from a slew of designers, including Cristobal Balenciaga, Coco Chanel, John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld, Givenchy, Christian Lacroix, Thierry Mugler, Raf Simons, Thom Browne and Gianni and Donatella Versace, among many others.

The exhibition, which will run May 10 through October 8, is a collaboration between the Costume Institute and the Department of Medieval Art and The Cloisters.
