Thanks to Love Island, Crocs – breathable, rubber, clog-like footwear – are making a serious comeback this year, especially the white colourway, which viewers have noticed are becoming a favourite amongst the female cast.

In last night’s episode alone, Faye, Kaz and Millie were all sporting the controversial style and fans flocked to Twitter to share their amusement.

“Why do all the girls all have matching white crocs,” one person asks, whilst another viewer jokes; “Is today white crocs day in the villa?”

“Wait, did they have those white crocs this entire season,” a third says.

One fan even suggested that maybe the ITV2 dating competition has a deal with the footwear brand, like they do with online fashion brand ISAWITFIRST.

“Is Love Island sponsored by white crocs?” they write.

The girls flaunted their chunky sandals throughout Sunday’s show – when they met their partner’s family and friends one day ahead of the long-awaited final. They paired the footwear with their bikinis for a practical and stylish look.

According to footwear news outlet The Sole Supplier, overall searches for Crocs in the UK were up an astonishing 1,300 per cent in July, and it seems that Love Island may have rubbed off on shoppers – with a 324 per cent increase in searches for the white style.

If you're itching to copy the Islanders' look, you can snap up the same exact pair for just £32.99 here.

Even the Islanders are surprised they’ve been embracing the trend, as last night, when complimented by her sister Banji, Kaz drew attention to her choice of footwear – claiming she “hated” crocs before entering the villa.

“You look good,” Kaz’s sister says, to which the Islander responds “In the Crocs.”

“I look good in the fricking Crocs,” she jokes, adding; “I walked in here hating Crocs."

But it’s not just the females who’ve been rocking the footwear brand. Earlier in the series, bucket hat businessman Chuggs Wallis sparked conversation on social media when he was spotted wearing lilac crocs.

Viewers of the show couldn’t decide whether they loved or loathed the style – sharing their thoughts on Twitter.

“The confidence of Chuggs chatting everyone up in purple Crocs,” one person jests.

“Ermm why is Chuggs wearing purple Crocs?” another says.

So it’s official, the once-marmite style of shoe is finally turning heads – who knew!
