Ahead of the return of Love Island ’s hotly anticipated Winter 2023 series, one of this year’s contestants Lana Jenkins has already opened up about her friendship with actress Michelle Keegan, as she revealed the star had already backed her to win the show.
Ahead of her debut, the 25 year old celebrity makeup artist revealed how the former Coronation Street actress, is a “real life Disney princess”, with the soap star already having publicly backed the makeup whizz online.
But how exactly did the pair meet and strike up such a strong friendship?
Lana and Michelle first met while the pair were working on Sky comedy series Brassic together, with Michelle working in front of the camera as star Erin, while Lana assisted the makeup department for two episodes of the popular show.
Striking up a friendship, Michelle even publicly celebrated Lana’s casting in Love Island, when she shared a message of support with the talented makeup artist, after the news was officially announced to the public.
Sharing a photo of her official villa snap on social media, Michelle wrote: “So our girl Lana is going into the @loveisland villa. Genuinely one of the nicest girls you’ll ever meet. Go and smash it darlin.”
Michelle isn’t her only showbiz pal either, as Lana previously dated Hollyoaks hunk Owen Warner in 2020, and even had a brush with fame herself when she worked as an extra on ITV comedy Benidorm at the tender age of six years old.
“It was the first ever episode, it's literally if you blink you'll miss me,” she told the publication.
“But it's like a little me and my little sister just in a queue somewhere. We do watch it sometimes for a laugh.”
Heading into the Love Island villa for the first time tonight (Monday January 16th), Lana is hoping that her time in the villa will help her to find love following her split from Owen two years ago.
Reflecting on her relationship with soap star Owen, 23, who finished in second place on this year's I'm A Celeb, Lana said: “We had a lovely relationship. We had a bit of a lockdown relationship, so we spent a lot of time together.
“And then when we ended, we ended amicably, so I have nothing bad to say in terms of our relationship and the time that we spent together.”
Lana and Owen briefly dated in 2020 shortly after his split from Hollyoaks co-star Stephanie Davies, 28, having been introduced by mutual friends while she was working on CBBC's So Awkward.
