Love Island’s Shaughna Phillips recreates this iconic Legally Blonde hairstyle

The 90s and 00s are trending, and throwback hairstyles are back and better than ever. From the return of heavy layers and bouncy blow-dries to chunky highlights and baby braids, more and more of us are looking to the chick-flick stars of our childhood for hair inspiration these days.

Just take Love Island’s Shaughna Phillips, for example. In a clip shared to her Instagram Stories, the 28 year old has unveiled a whole new hairstyle, with her golden blonde tresses worn in a sleek, bouncy blow-out reminiscent of Legally Blonde heroine Elle Woods.

“It’s giving Legally Blonde,” Shaughna captions the post.

Aside from epic one-liners and legendary characters, Legally Blonde is famed for showcasing some of the 90s’ most popular hair looks, with actress Reese Witherspoon rocking everything from super-high ponytails and baker-boy hats to butterfly clips in the cult film series.

Love Island’s Shaughna certainly seemed to be channelling Elle Woods’ graduation hairstyle for her latest makeover – all that’s missing is a cap and gown – oh, and Bruiser.

The reality star gave fans a closer look at her new ‘do in a snap shared to her Instagram feed, with the post raking in over 9K likes and many fans flocking to the comment section.

“Love your hair like this,” one fan writes.

“You look stunning,” another says, while a third comments: “You’re so beautiful.”

Unlike Elle, she wasn’t off to Harvard, or to the salon to teach the iconic “bend-and-snap” manoeuvre; instead Shaughna reveals in the caption that she was invited to attend the Labour Women’s Network Gala.

“So last night was probably one of the most surreal nights of my life, and considering I’ve lived through a Casa Amor recoupling AND stripped on national TV whilst on ice skates, that really says a lot,” the caption says.

“I was invited to be a guest at the Labour Women’s Network Gala dinner, for my work on encouraging body positivity among women with @beyouwithshaughna, and calling out abuse against women in the public eye.”

The star continues: “If you know me, you know I love all things politics, I love learning, and my goal has always been to make politics accessible to everyone, no matter your background or circumstances, so to be around the women who actively work on creating change was incredible.”

Just like Elle, Shaughna appears to be serving as a role model for women everywhere since departing the Love Island villa and we applaud her!
