Meghan Markle has been settling into life as a royal since her wedding to Prince Harry on 19 May 2018. She has made many appearances at official events next to royals including Kate Middleton, 37, Prince William, 37, and the Queen, 93. However, Meghan is said to be closer to one member of the family than any other, and it’s not Kate or the Queen.

Meghan swapped her career as an actor for being the Duchess of Sussex and part of the British Royal Family.
Having made such a big change, it is no surprise she looked to other royals for guidance and to help her settle into the role.
Since she entered the family, some royal fans have watched on to her relationship with sister-in-law, Kate Middleton.
However, it might actually have been Prince Charles who Meghan was getting closest to, Vanity Fair reported.
Speaking to the publication, a source revealed Meghan and Charles became close after the wedding.
They said: “The wedding was a real turning point. Charles showed so much love towards Harry and Meghan, and I think Harry will be eternally grateful to his papa for stepping in and giving Meghan’s hand in marriage. The bond between them is very close.
“Charles has been very supportive of Meghan and everything she is going through with her own father.
“He’s got a real soft spot for her and thinks she’s the best thing to have happened to Harry.”
At the wedding, Charles jumped in when she asked her future father-in-law to walk her down the aisle, a role usually reserved for the bride’s closest relatives.
Speaking on BBC’s Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, Prince Harry opened up about his dad’s relationship with Meghan.
He said: “I asked him to and I think he knew it was coming, and he immediately said ‘yes, of course, I’ll do whatever Megan needs and I’m here to support you’.
“For him that’s a fantastic opportunity to step up and be that support, and you know he’s our father so of course he’s gonna be there for us.”

Last summer, Meghan and Prince Charles also bonded when they went on holiday to Scotland with Prince Harry.
Following the trip, royal reporter Katie Nicholl claimed Prince Charles was “closer to Harry than ever,” and he has a “lovely relationship with the Duchess.”
Meghan recently returned to work after taking some time off from maternity leave and she joined Prince Harry on an official royal tour of Africa.
During the trip, the Duchess took Archie Harrison along to his first ever royal engagement as they met Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
The mum-of-one appeared confident and an expert explained how her parenting style appeared to have changed.
The Duchess has only stepped out with Archie a few times before, but she looked more sure in her role as a mother, according to Zoe Bonser, Show Director at The Baby Show.
She appeared to take a modern approach to parenting and is trusting her instinct in the role.
Zoe said: “Meghan has taken a very modern view of parenting, unafraid to do what she believes is right and Harry supports her in that and it’s lovely to see them grow as a couple and as parents.”
How did Kate Middleton become a royal?
Kate Middleton, or Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, was born on 9 January 1982 at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, England.
She was born to Michael and Carole Middleton, a former flight dispatcher and air hostess. The couple founded a party supplies company, Party Pieces, in 1987 – now estimated to be worth £30 million.
Kate has a younger sister Pippa Matthews, 34, and a younger brother James Middleton, 31.
Kate and her family moved to Amman, Jordan, in 1984, where the future Duchess was educated at an English-speaking nursery school.
After moving back to Berkshire the family sent Kate to private school, St Andrews School. She went on to briefly study at Downe House before moving onto Marlborough College where she boarded.
For university the young Kate attended the University of St Andrews in Fife, Scotland. Here she was awarded an undergraduate MA (2:1 Hons) in history of art.
Relationship with Prince William
Kate met Prince William when they were both studying at St Andrews, and both living in St Salvator’s Hall. Famously, William reportedly took a fancy to Kate after she wore a see-through dress during a fashion show.
In 2003 the couple began dating and lived together during their second year of university.
The couple split in April 2007, however, in October they were back together.
Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton with his late mother Princess Diana’s engagement ring in October 2010. The couple were holidaying in Kenya at the time.
On 29 April 2011 they married at Westminster Abbey with a whopping 26 million watching the event live.
Kate wore an Alexander McQueen dress worth a reported £250,000 on the big day.
Kate assumed the title “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge” and also become the Duchess of Cambridge on the day.
