It’s Grandma Meryl now.
Congratulations are in order for Meryl Streep, who is going to become a grandmother for the first time. The Oscar winner’s oldest daughter, actress Mamie Gummer, is expecting her first child, Streep’s representative Alissa Vradenburg confirmed to USA TODAY on Sunday.
Gummer, 35, is the second child and first daughter of Streep and husband Don Gummer. Gummer’s sibling include Henry Wolfe Gummer, 33; Grace Gummer, 32, and Louisa Gummer, 27.
Gummer, who got engaged to fiancé Mehar Sethi in August, was previously married to Benjamin Walker for nearly two years before the pair split in 2013, according to People magazine. Sethi has written and produced for series including “The Mick” and “Bojack Horseman.”
Gummer starred in the 2015 movie “Ricki and the Flash” with her award-winning mother, and has acting credits on the CBS legal drama “The Good Wife” and its spinoff “The Good Fight,” CW’s “Emily Owens, M.D.” and the thriller “Side Effects.”
Although this is Streep’s first time getting to be a grandmother in real life, she’s had some practice onscreen in her career. Streep is set to star as Mary Louise Wright, grandmother to Celeste’s (Nicole Kidman) sons in the upcoming second season of HBO’s “Big Little Lies.” She also played family matriarch Violet in the 2015 drama “August Osage County.”
