A mother revealed how she confronted a woman for wearing her pyjamas in Tesco.
The Mumsnet user said she called out the shopper because it was ‘inappropriate’ and ‘unhygienic’ for people to go out in public in their nightwear.
She wrote: ‘I never say anything about this kind of stuff but it clicked an anger switch in me,’ adding: ‘I got into a row over it’.
While she might have been hoping for support on the online forum, the woman herself soon came under fire and was accused of being ‘breathtakingly rude’ by other parents.

Another posted: ‘Well if it’s true then you were very unreasonable. What on earth has it got to do with you?’
A third agreed: ‘I don’t particularly want to see the face of any adult who uses the word icky but I wouldn’t harass you in Tesco about it. You’re lucky she didn’t lamp you!’

One poster conceded that it was ‘inappropriate’ to wear a skimpy nighty but otherwise pyjamas were acceptable in a supermarket.
One wrote: ‘You were really bloody rude. What this woman was wearing was absolutely none of your business. Who decided you could be the suitable attire to wear in the supermarket police?
‘You acted like an idiot and I hope the couple told you to do one. I can’t believe you thought it was ok to do this.’

One wrote: ‘I don’t think wearing PJs in the supermarket is socially acceptable either. On the other hand I also don’t think it’s socially acceptable to accost strangers in the supermarket about their clothing choices.’
Another said: ‘If I see someone wearing pyjamas in public my first thought is that it’s incredibly slovenly and lazy and that clearly they don’t take pride in their appearance which personally I can’t understand.
‘On the other hand, I would never say anything to someone as what they look like isn’t affecting me personally.’
