DEAR DEIDRE: I WANT to dump my best pal. He has become negative and is bringing me down.

We’ve been friends since we were in the Scouts, and are now in our early twenties.

He just wants to smoke weed and drink.

His attitude to life is really negative and he puts me down when I achieve anything.

Being around him feels quite toxic.

I feel like I’ve outgrown him and he’s holding me back.
