She announced she had become a mother for the first time after welcoming twins just four weeks ago.

And Michella McCollum has been spotted taking her ‘little darlings’ out for a stroll in Belfast.

The ‘Peru Two’ drugs mule, 24, was seen taking the new arrivals – who MailOnline can now reveal are both boys – for a walk in a park near her home in the Northern Irish capital on Tuesday.

The former jailbird looked every inch the doting mother as she pushed the newborns around in a double pushchair before pausing for a cuddle on a park bench.

Proudly displaying her post-baby body in a floral miniskirt from River Island teamed with a cosy red knit and flyknit trainers, Michaella couldn’t wipe the smile from her face as she cosied up to her little bundles.

The new mother announced the news of their birth on Instagram last month by sharing a sweet clip with her newborns, captioned: ‘My little darlings, 1 week today.’

And she certainly hasn’t held back when it comes to chronicling the realities of motherhood, writing on a recent post: ‘Not often these days when I’m not covered in pee and spew.’

She also revealed her joy at being able to fit into her pre-pregnancy clothes, but has so far declined to share who their father is – prompting speculation that she is embarking on this next chapter alone.

MailOnline has contacted a representative for Michaella for comment.

The young mother has never revealed who the father of the twins is, but has posted snaps on Instagram with a mystery man – thought to be her boyfriend – omitting his face

Secretive: Michaella, who shot to notoriety in 2013 when she and her friend Melissa Reid were arrested in Lima for smuggling drugs, has revealed that her ‘little darlings’ are boys

Michaella, who shot to notoriety in 2013 when she and her friend Melissa Reid were arrested in Lima for smuggling drugs and dubbed the Peru Two in the press, revealed just this week that her newborns are boys.

She has also never revealed who the father of the twins is, but has posted snaps on Instagram with a mystery man – thought to be her boyfriend – omitting his face from the pictures.

And she gave followers no hint during her pregnancy that two babies were on the way, displaying only a tiny bump in her recent social media posts.

A snap from the end of April showed her with a neat baby bump, but she hinted that birth was imminent, saying: ‘I guess I am gonna have to shop infant car seats soon.’

Reid and McCollum met in Ibiza in 2013 where they were employed by a drug-dealing gang.

They were sentenced to spend six years and eight months inside a grim jail in Lima, after they were caught at the airport trying to smuggle £1.5M worth of cocaine.

However, they were released after serving three years with Michaella returning to Northern Ireland in June 2016.

Since her release from prison, Michaella has become something of a public figure, attending events and escaping the chilly British weather on a string of sun-kissed holidays last summer.

The proud new mother received an outpouring of good wishes from her Instagram followers when she announced the news in April, but has so far  refused to share their names

Her bikini-clad snaps on various sunny getaways have become something of a regular fixture in the media.

Following her release, Michaella was spotted living it up in party centres Ibiza and Marbella enjoying sun, sea and cocktails with friends.

By contrast her former accomplice Melissa Reid, landed a charity job at Citizens Advice after she was released from jail in South America in June 2016.

Michaella was also reportedly offered £250,000 for a tell-all book deal detailing her criminal exploits and time behind bars in Lima, although no details of the publication have been released.

Mysterious: The new mother did not give any hint to followers during her pregnancy that twins were on the way, prompting an outpouring of surprise when she shared the news last month

Michaella announced her pregnancy in January with a photo of her cuddled up to an unidentified male companion. It is not known whether he is the baby’s father

Whether that figure is realistic or not, the new mother will be releasing her tome at some point this year.

There was also talk of Michaella taking part in a prison documentary, although there has not been any news of the rumoured TV show.

On confirming her pregnancy, her agent said: Michaella is looking forward to her journey into motherhood.

‘Couple this with the excitement of her book release and 2018 is set to be an amazing year for Michaella.’

The new mother announced her pregnancy this year by posting a black and white photo of her in Calvin Klein underwear that exposed an expanding tummy to reveal her happy news.

Captioning the post, Michaella wrote: ‘Wow had some crazy dreams… guess that’s what happens when your dreaming for more than one.’

Who are the so-called Peru Two?

Melissa Reid and Michaella McCollum – dubbed the ‘Peru Two’ – were caught in August 2013 as they tried to board an Air Europe flight to Majorca via Madrid with 24lb (11kg) of cocaine hidden in food packets packed in their luggage.

The women, who travelled to Peru after spending the summer working in Ibiza, initially protested their innocence, claiming they had been forced to become drug runners by a gang of armed kidnappers.

Reid’s parents spoke out publicly in support of the pair but later said a guilty plea was the best course of action.

Reid and McCollum faced up to 15 years in jail if convicted of drug smuggling after a trial.

Both women later pleaded guilty to the charges and were sentenced to six years and eight months in prison. Peruvian police and prosecutors said from the start they never believed the women’s stories about being forced to smuggle drugs.

Reid and McCollum were initially held at Virgen de Fatima prison in Lima but were later moved to Ancon II prison, a modern facility where conditions were moderately better than the overcrowded and unsanitary conditions of the previous jail.

Reid was allowed to apply for a return to Britain under a 2014 law designed to reduce Peru’s prison population and returned home in June 2016.

McCollum was released in March 2016 after serving two years and three months of her sentence but was required to stay in Peru as part of her parole conditions.

She spent several months carrying out voluntary work under the leadership of Fr Seán Walsh of the Columban Fathers Mission in Peru, before returning to Northern Ireland in August 2016.
