Phillip Schofield’s life 3 years after emotionally coming out including ‘boyfriend’ remark

It’s been three years since Phillip Schofield bravely came out as gay on live TV.

The 60 year old, who recently defended Molly-Mae Hague's new baby name, said during an emotional episode of This Morning in 2020 that he had realised that he was attracted to the same sex, despite his 27 year long marriage to wife Stephanie.

“I was getting to the point where I knew I wasn’t honest with myself,” he told his co-host Holly Willoughby, before adding that he had the full support of his wife and two daughters in coming out.

Moments earlier, he had posted the news in a statement to his Instagram account, where he wrote that he had spent the past few years “coming to terms with the fact that I am gay.”

Fans and celebs were quick to congratulate the presenter for his honesty – and speculation began about his relationships.

Three years on, here’s what he’s been up to.

After his announcement on This Morning, the presenter clarified that there was no one else on the scene and that he wasn’t “thinking” about finding a man, explaining that his coming out was still a “slow process.”

Phillip came out just one month before the first Coronavirus lockdown, which took place in March 2020, which meant that Phillip had to make a decision about where to shelter in place.

In the end, Phillip decided to lock down with his wife and daughters Ruby and Molly in their £2 million pound family mansion in Henley.

During his time spent in isolation, Phillip decided to write an autobiography which gave him the opportunity to answer his critics.

In his book Life Is What You Make It, the 60 year old responded to critics who accused him of cruelly misleading his ex.

Phillip wrote that he “didn’t know” he was gay when he got married and wouldn’t have done so if he had.

However, the pair are still married and Phillip has admitted that he has no idea if they’ll ever get divorced.

“We’ve not discussed (divorce) at all,” Phillip told Chris Evans on his podcast, How to Wow.

When the first lockdown ended in the Summer of 2020, Phillip finally decided to move out of the family home and bought a lavish £2 million pound pad in Chiswick, London.

He also decided to use the relaxed rules as an opportunity to get in shape and hired a personal trainer who he often featured on his social media accounts.

Since then, Phillip has settled into the single life but remains on friendly terms with his ex, and the pair still spend Christmas together along with their two adult kids.

Phillip, who was recently slammed by Kim Woodburn, has never confirmed that he’s in a new relationship – so as far as fans know he’s still very much a bachelor – but fellow presenter Graham Norton did set tongues wagging when he appeared to hint otherwise during an interview.

Speaking again to Chris Evans, Graham Norton said: “I imagine Pip (Phillip) has some secret boyfriend squirrelled away somewhere. I’m sure he has.”

However, cheeky Graham was quick to add that he didn’t really “know” Phillip.
