- The first-time mum’s in-laws are desperate for their first grandchild to be a boy
- She had several fights with her in-laws since results showed she’s having a girl
- Her husband’s family even organised a boy-themed baby shower for her
- She ‘lost her temper’ with them but the dad-to-be has sided with his family
Hundreds have defended a pregnant woman online after she told of how her in-laws refuse to accept she is having a girl.
The 27-year-old mum-to-be turned to Reddit to ask if she was in the wrong for walking out of the boy-themed baby shower her in-laws threw for her despite knowing she is having a girl.
She said the baby will be her in-law’s first grandchild and they were hoping to name them after her husband’s father who died from cancer.

The expectant woman’s in-laws had her ‘attend prayers and do rituals’ in the hope she would have a boy which she said she didn’t like but went along with to ‘keep the peace’ but when the doctor confirmed the baby is a girl, things started to turn sour.
‘My husband cried in the car then turned his phone off to hide from his family then finally told them,’ she wrote.
‘His mom and the others made their frustration and disappointment clear which bothered me cause my daughter deserves to be celebrated.’
The woman said her husband’s family ‘constantly’ refer to her daughter as her son and even claim the gender results were false.
She had ‘several fights’ with her in-laws and stopped speaking to her husband for a while as he sided with them ‘despite seeing how wrong and unreasonable what they were doing was’.

The future mum was excited when her sister-in-law called to apologise and said they had organised a baby shower but she quickly realised the family still weren’t over their gender delusions.
‘When I arrived I saw blue balloons, blue cake with father-in-law’s name/decorations around. I was so confused I had to sit down,’ she said.
‘Sister-in-law explained they were ‘still’ hoping the gender results are false and it’s a boy. I looked at my husband and he agreed with her.’
The pregnant woman exploded, yelling at her in-laws to ‘stop treating her daughter like she’s unwanted’ and walked out for throwing a party for ‘their imaginary grandson’.
Her husband sided with his family again saying they were ‘insulted’ by her actions and insisted she ‘play along’ as ‘they’ll soon get over it’ but she was having none of it and left.

‘He was fuming, he called 15 times, then texted that he won’t be coming home until I ‘get my ass’ over and apologise for ruining everything THEY’VE DONE FOR ME and accusing them of being mentally unstable,’ the woman explained.
‘I haven’t responded yet he’s constantly pressuring me to get right with his family before we even talk about anything else.’
The first-time mum’s tale drew in thousands of responses from Redditors siding with her, concerned about her husband’s family’s ‘outrageous’ behaviour and even urging her to leave the baby’s father.
‘The fact that your husband is supporting them (and also delusional) is a HUGE red flag. Unless you want your daughter raised by a bunch of misogynists, I would seriously consider getting out of there NOW,’ one user wrote.
‘These people are terrifying. Rituals and prayers followed by a baby shower for a boy? I understand disappointment or whatever but this is just too far. Its like they thought if the baby was a boy it would be father-in-law reincarnated,’ another chimed in.
‘Does your husband know his sperm determined the baby’s gender? If they want to blame someone they should aim that at your husband for failing to give you a boy baby,’ a third responded.
