She rarely puts a foot wrong when it comes to her style despite her busy schedule of royal engagements.

And Queen Letizia, 45, continued to show off her fashion prowess as she attended a meeting with the Spanish Association Against Cancer, of which she is the Honorary President.

The royal consort put on a chic display in a monochrome ensemble as she headed to the appointment in Madrid on Friday. 

Letizia opted for an elegant striped shift dress cinched in at the waist which fell just below the knees by Hugo Boss, one of her favourite designers.

She teamed it with a pair of £460 Gianvito Rossi mules featuring a transparent cross-strap, previously worn during a visit to Benidorm last month. 

Greeting members of the cancer charity, the former journalist looked in good spirits as she kicked off her day.

The organisation was launched in 1953 with an aim to combat cancer in all its forms. Working across more than 2,000 Spanish towns, it has more than 16,000 volunteers and 680 employees.

Queen Letizia is mother to Princesses Leonor, 12, and Sofia, 10, with husband King Felipe, 50, who ascended to the Spanish throne in 2014.

Over the years Letizia, a former newsreader, has worked hard to promote causes she is passionate about.

These include education, innovation, rare diseases, and particularly in nutrition, working closely with the UN’s World Health and Food and Agriculture Organisations.   

King Juan Carlos abdicated in 2014 in favour of his 48-year-old son, now King Felipe VI.
