Roman Kemp jokes his parents’ new Instagram project is ‘just videos of dad’s bum’

Capital FM DJ Roman Kemp has shared his parents’ new project with his 1.4 million Instagram followers – joking that all it consists of is "videos of my dad's bum”.

The radio host’s parents – Martin and Shirlie Kemp – are currently documenting the renovation of their new home on Instagram.

Reposting a video of his dad to his Instagram Stories, Roman wrote: “My parent's home renovation consists videos of my dad's bum”.

In the video, the Spandau Ballet star can be seen bending over to pull up the old carpet – revealing some stunning dark stained floorboards beneath, much to the delight of their followers.

“Absolutely amazing great find, looking forward to seeing the end result,” read one comment.

Shirlie has begun painting the room in a bright white, and revealed that she’d have to sand the floorboards before they could fit with her vision.

“They’re nice. That’s a good discovery… I’m pleased with that,” she added.

The 59 year old started the Instagram account at the end of October and has since amassed over 38,700 followers.

Setting up the page, she told fans that her late father was a builder and that his memory and his old tips and tricks will be with her as she embarks on the sentimental project.

“Martin & I recently moved to an old Victorian house in need of a lot of work,” she wrote.

“My father was a builder and I learnt a lot from him about transforming houses. I remember as a little girl I would draw house plans and show my dad and ask him if he would build me a house when I get older.

“Well my love of houses is still there but sadly my dad isn’t here anymore but his spirit will be around as I bring this lovely house back to life.”

So far Martin and Shirlie have kept their followers updated, sharing glimpses into the Victorian home after moving out of their Hertfordshire family home in the quest for a bigger garden.

Speaking of the move, she explained: “I was also looking for a bigger garden as eventually I’d like to rescue more dogs and a few other animals and needed more space. As I said before, I have never been afraid of change, in fact I welcome it.”

Previously Martin and Shirley lived with their two grown up children Roman and Harley, regularly sharing glimpses into the family home’s light and airy décor, particularly the stunning gardens.
