Tesco issues warning to customers about ‘shortage of products’ in various stores

Some Tesco customers may have noticed a shortage of certain items in stores. The shortages have occurred due to an issue with suppliers.

Earlier this year, some Britons started to stockpile food items leaving empty shelves in supermarkets.

Uncertainties over the coronavirus caused essential items such as pasta and tinned goods to be stripped from shelves.

In March, rationing was introduced into many stores to help stop the problem.

While stockpiling seemed to calm down, some shoppers have noticed shortages again.

Those visiting a small number of Tesco stores have noticed shortages of certain items.

A notice was spotted by a shopper in a Kent Tesco superstore which apologised for the lack of items.

It stated: “Due to supplier issues, we have limited availability on these products.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The post was attached to shelves in the meat aisle where pork products should have been.

The supermarket has confirmed there have been shortages on pork in certain stores.

This has been caused by an issue with suppliers and could take weeks to fix.

The retailer has not confirmed how many stores have been affected.

A Tesco statement said: “We’re sorry that some of our stores have fewer pork products available than usual.

“We’re working hard with our suppliers to resolve this and availability should improve within the coming weeks.”

Government guidance has constantly changed throughout the pandemic.

Recent local lockdowns and new guidance has caused some shoppers to start panic buying again.

Rationing has been reintroduced in some supermarkets to ensure there are no more shortages.

Tesco recently warned customers against buying more than they need.

Tesco CEO Dave Lewis said panic buying is “unnecessary” and that it “creates a tension in the supply chain”.
