Youngest son wants to marry his horrible girlfriend but I don’t want her in our family – The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: WE raised our sons to work hard and save for a decent life, but our younger son has got himself a girlfriend with a dreadful attitude.

She has a rubbish job but keeps buying designer clothes, make-up and handbags. She keeps saying she is going to find an amazing job earning who knows how much.

It’s clearly rubbish but our son believes it all. He is 27 and his girlfriend is 25.

Me and my husband wanted to give her a chance at first but she would come round our house and be so rude and disrespectful, I’ve told our son I don’t want to see her here.

Now he is making a big statement that they are an item and are going to get married. I am so fed up.

I think he should go and live with her and her useless parents to see what it’s really like.

DEIDRE SAYS: Be very careful not to burn bridges with your son.

You’re probably right and he is going to realise that his girlfriend’s attitude to life isn’t going to make either of them happy, but make it easy for him to come back to you and cry on your shoulder.

Lose the battle to win the war. Tell him you hope he will be happy but you and his dad are always there for him if things don’t work out as he hopes.

I don’t think it will be long before you’re needed.
