Ariana Grande performs her new single 'No Tears Left to Cry' with Nintendo Labo instruments

Ariana Grande has teamed up with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots for a performance of her new single ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ – but with a twist.

Incredibly, the supergroup managed to perform the track using only Nintendo Labo instruments, fashioned out of cardboard and enhanced with the Nintendo Switch.

And it sounded amazing!

While Ariana handled the vocals, Fallon took on the guitar and used the piano studio.

The Roots’ Questlove operated the Labo robot kit, Kamal Gray and James Poyser played Toy-Con pianos, Stro used a Toy-Con drum machine, Mark Kelley strummed the bass guitar while Black Thought was on the electric guitar fishing rod and Captain Kirk played the acoustic guitar.

Speaking to IGN about the performance, Fallon said: “It was totally bizarre and such a gamble.

“I didn’t know if it was going to sound good, but Ariana is always down to try something fun and different.

“Anyone can do what we did really, it just takes time. Whatever you dream of, you can make it.”

‘No Tears Left to Cry’ is from Ariana’s upcoming third studio album Sweetener, which is expected to be released in the summer.

The record will be her first since the Manchester terror attack that claimed the lives of 22 people at one of her concerts last year.

Speaking about the album’s title to Fallon earlier this month, Ariana explained: “It is called Sweetener because it’s kind of about bringing light to a situation or to someone’s life or somebody else bringing light to your life, sweetening the situation.”
