Congratulations are in order for Daddy Yankee. The singer and his “Despacito” collaboration with Justin Bieber and Luis Fonsi were the big winners at the Billboard Latin Music Awards in Las Vegas on Thursday night, April 26.
The most-played song of 2017 picked up six honors, including Hot Latin Song of the Year, Vocal Event, and Latin Pop Song of the Year, while Daddy Yankee led all winners with eight gongs, followed by Luis Fonsi and Justin Bieber, who claimed seven, and Ozuna scored the Artist of the Year prize.
Other big winners at the Mandalay Bay Events Center included Maluma, who was named Social Artist of the Year, and Shakira, who picked up Latin Pop Artist of the Year, Solo and Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Female, among her five-prize haul.
The night’s highlight performances included Ozuna, who debuted “La Modelo” with Cardi B, and Nicky Jam and J Balvin, who performed “X” for the first time on television. The night’s Lifetime Achievement award went to Mexican rock band Mana, who performed two of their biggest hits at the ceremony.
