Dane Bowers looks completely different from popstar days as he celebrates 40th

Dane Bowers is celebrating his 40th birthday in style today as he parties in Dubai surrounded by his pals.

The singer, who was part of the R&B boy band Another Level between 1997 and 2000, kicked off his birthday at midnight in a nightclub with music booming and friends screaming birthday messages.

But age has done wonders for the talented musician who took up solo projects with Victoria Beckham and True Steppers after the band went its separate ways.

Leaving his brunette hair behind, the songwriter, DJ and record producer now sports a hair full of grey hairs but fans have dubbed him a "silver fox".

Taking to his official Instagram stories, Dane posed with friends while looking tanned and clearly keeping up with his gym routines.

The hunk, who dated Katie Price back in the day, showed off his gym-honed physique as his pals took videos of him dancing.

One friend shared a snap of Dane and jokingly wrote over the pic: "Happy birthday grandad," followed by emojis of balloons.

Over the years Dane has made many TV appearances from Celebrity Big Brother and the celeb version of Come Dine With Me.

He went on to make it to the final and came as a runner up to Katie Price's other ex-boyfriend Alex Reid on January 29.

Dane's hit song in 2010, 'Shut Up… and Forget About It' was allegedly written about the former glamour model and their relationship but has never been confirmed by the singer.

In April 2000 Dane saw success after Victoria Beckham's solo song Out of Your Mind came out and reach number two in the UK charts, which was written by the reality star.

While music was the heart of his passion, he also began television presenting in 2002, co-hosting Popstars: The Rivals 'Extra' show with the former Pop Idol contestant Hayley Evetts.

In 2004, Dane wrote and starred in a TV sitcom pilot called Bow to the Bowers. It was a satirical look at the music industry, casting Bowers as an egotistical, vain version of himself.

It also starred former Steps member Lee Latchford-Evans and ex-Brother Beyond star Nathan Moore, though it never made it to mainstream TV.

In 2009, Dane appeared in an episode of Celebrity Come Dine With Me alongside Bobby Davro, Laila Morse, and Dani Behr, where he served langoustines, beef tenderloin, and bread and butter pudding.

Dane's theme for the evening was 'funky, cool and fashionable'.
